You can click to walk down a street, in 3D, and occasionally portions of an essay will appear, which you quote unquote Defeat via fake RPG mechanics. Since this game doesn't make much sense on screen readers, I will now read the entire essay to you in full. Here goes. You are Lizzie Smithson. You are walking down Routine Street, so as to reach the Downtown Area Of Mega Cincinnati and go About Your Business. Better get to it. You’ve walked down Routine Street many a time before. It’s one of the newer streets in Mega Cincinnati, having only been established since 2002. And yet, it’s what you could call a frequently traveled road. It gets lots and lots of foot and car traffic due to being one of the most direct routes downtown. And yet today it is completely empty, for some reason! Routine Street is one of the only passages through Autumn Heights. Autumn Heights can be characterized by massive, wide structures and plain brick walls. Just across the street from you is the local prison. Bit of a risk to live the life you do so close to it! You’ve picked many a pocket here, and each pocket you pick, you swear, will be your last one. But you can’t seem to stop! It’s not that you’re addicted, you just need the money. The economy, right? Thank god for places like Routine Street or else life would be just impossible. Every day, you walk down Routine Street, pick pockets in Routine Street, go downtown, pick pockets downtown, go back up Routine Street, pick pockets in Routine Street, return to Hillburg, and go home. It’s a repetitive existence, but you find comfort in it. One of the reasons Routine Street gets so much civilian traffic is obviously those aforementioned big buildings. There used to be dozens and dozens of windy paths going through Autumn Heights lending passageway to all corners of Cincinnati. What happened to them? As if you don’t know. When General R R Raw began his infamous Urban Mycology experiments in 2002, one of the side effects was Autumn Heights getting massively redeveloped. Buildings disappeared overnight and were replaced by massive complexes. Then Those were replaced by mansions, bunkers, prisons. Things just kept changing, until it became what it is today. Thankfully, things have been more or less stable down here since 2013... but all traffic to and from the downtown area, itself a victim of General Raw’s experiments, has been bottlenecked by a handful of thin long passages in between 50 square feet complexes of faux brick and cement. If you’re going downtown, there’s no other way to go. Which is good news for a pickpocket... people like you strive in crowds of people. Crowds of victims. Every person you see looks like a dollar symbol to you. Profit to be waged. Barely even human. What a life you live! Today is a mumbled whisper, though. There’s nobody here! No victims, you mean marks, you mean People. Nobody to rob! You should’ve stayed inside, but then where would you have had time to have this lovely inner monologue? You wonder if anybody on Earth would want to be in your shoes right now. Who in their right mind would find this entertaining? Who in their right mind would find this Fun? If this were a videogame, and in some ways life Is a videogame, this would score badly on IGN. You’ve been walking down Routine Street for some time now. Has it always been this long? Was it redeveloped again recently? You figure you’ll keep walking down and see what happens. You know, it Is supposed to rain today. You should go back. You have made the decision to keep walking, despite your own brain’s protests. You have the feeling something bad is going to happen if you don’t stop soon. Not having any solid reason to stop, you keep going down the street. Something’s bound to happen sooner or later, right? You hear someone approaching. Something very, very important is about to happen terribly soon. You won’t believe your senses. You’re almost there. Just keep going. It’ll happen soon, no doubt about it. Don't Stop. Don't Stop. Don't Stop.
